Details & History:

This elegant guéridon (small occasional table) features a two-tier étagère form, a design popular in France during the late 1800s into the Belle Époque period. The piece is crafted in rich polished mahogany with warm patina, supported by a finely turned pedestal column and graceful tripod base.

Each circular tier is encircled by a pierced gilt-brass gallery, both decorative and functional, designed to keep books, drinks, or objets d’art secure. This type of gallery rim was a hallmark of refined French cabinetry of the 19th century, often used on guéridons, bouillotte tables, and serving trolleys.

The double-tier form reflects the practical elegance of French interiors, offering layered surfaces for staging books, lamps, or florals without sacrificing floor space. Its balanced proportions and tripod support allow it to blend seamlessly into a range of settings, from classical libraries to eclectic salons.

Condition:

Excellent antique condition with light surface wear consistent with age. Brass galleries show desirable mellow patina, enhancing the table’s authenticity. Sturdy and stable tripod base.
