Details & History:

This refined French Louis XVI settee epitomizes neoclassical elegance with its hand-carved frame and richly patterned upholstery. The woodwork features hallmark motifs of the Louis XVI period, including fluted legs, rosettes, and acanthus scroll arms, all softened by a naturally aged patina. At the crest, a carved laurel wreath sits as a crowning ornament, symbolizing victory and refinement.

The upholstered seat and back are finished in a bold damask-style cut velvet, woven in muted teal and gold tones. Pieces such as this were once found in the salons of the 19th century, where craftsmanship and symmetry reflected both luxury and taste. Its high back and generous seat proportions make it as practical for modern living as it is steeped in history.

Condition:

Very good antique condition with age-appropriate wear to fabric, minor patina to the wood, and a strong, stable frame. Upholstery retains rich color with light surface wear consistent with age.
