Spanish Carved Oak Cabinet
Measurements: 43.5" L x 22.5" D x 47" H
Era & Origin: Late 19th to early 20th century, Continental Europe
Materials: Solid oak with iron hardware
Details & History:
This remarkable carved oak cabinet reflects the rustic strength and artistry of Continental craftsmanship. The façade is decorated with four deeply carved panels, each centered by geometric medallions framed with scrolling motifs—a design both architectural and decorative. The cabinet doors open to reveal a shelved interior, originally lined with green felt, ideal for storing linens, tableware, or valuables.
Below, two dovetailed drawers offer additional storage, finished with original iron pulls in stylized drop form. The scalloped apron and notched cornice lend the piece further character, while the exposed iron hinges and lock hardware (retaining its working key) speak to its authenticity. Constructed from heavy oak with pegged joinery, this cabinet embodies the sturdy traditions of late 19th-century provincial design, intended to serve generations.
Condition:
Excellent antique condition. Wear and patina consistent with age, with light surface marks adding to the depth of character. The oak is structurally sound and stable, drawers run smoothly, and original ironwork remains intact.
Note: All items are antique and could show signs of wear or age. We do our utmost best to point out, photograph, and mention any noticeable flaws.
