1970’s Hermès “La Marine en Bois” Silk Scarf
A stunning piece of Hermès history, La Marine en Bois (“The Wooden Navy”) is one of the house’s most beloved marine-themed designs — a tribute to early French naval ships, maritime craftsmanship, and Hermès’ longstanding relationship with equestrian and nautical heritage.
This particular carré is a 1970s reissue showcasing an exquisite palette of olive, gold, cream, and maritime red tones. At center: crossed anchors encircling a naval emblem. Along the borders: meticulously illustrated French ships, pennants, rigging, and seashell motifs, all framed by classical scrollwork.
Crafted in 100% silk twill, hand-rolled hem, and signed “Hermès Paris” on the border — a true marker of authenticity.
Whether styled in the hair, worn around the neck, framed as art, or draped over a bag, it’s a striking collector’s piece with incredible storytelling power.
