Details & History
This complete set of six dinner plates with one pedestal compote embodies the enduring beauty of Dutch Delft-inspired pottery. Produced by Petrus Regout & Co. in Maastricht under the “Flora” line, these pieces showcase scrolling floral motifs in deep cobalt blue on a creamy white ground. The fine striped border framing the rim adds balance and rhythm to the lively sprays of florals throughout.
The matching compote—a raised serving dish—adds both rarity and versatility, making the set especially desirable for entertaining or display. Whether styled on a wall rack, layered into a tablescape, or presented as a collection, this grouping makes a striking statement of timeless Dutch design.
Petrus Regout was one of the most significant European ceramic manufacturers of the 19th century, producing export wares that blended utility with artistry. The Flora pattern remains one of their most charming designs, and complete sets such as this seldom surface intact.
Condition
The plates and compote retain their rich glaze and strong cobalt tones. As expected with glazed earthenware of this age, there are areas of glaze crazing, a few minor rim chips to one plate (photographed for transparency), and the compote shows surface discoloration to the well from use over the past century. These honest signs of wear do not detract from their beauty or display value, but instead speak to their long and storied past.
Note: All items are antique and may show signs of wear or age. We do our utmost to point out, photograph, and mention any noticeable flaws.
