Pair of Bronze Sporting Tazzas with Hound & Game Bird Relief
Game birds nestle among grasses and foliage around the bowls of these bronze tazzas. Beneath each bowl, sculpted hound heads face outward from the stem, while a base modeled like roots and leaves carries the woodland theme down to the foot.
The tazza takes its shape from the traditional shallow bowl raised on a pedestal. Here, the sporting imagery gives that classical form the character of a country house piece. The warm gold-toned finish picks out the raised feathers, leaves, and faces, with deeper shadows in the recesses.
The pair is especially handsome on a mantel or sideboard, where the relief can be seen from more than one angle.
