Monumental 19th-Century Gilt Display Easel
This impressive antique easel, measuring an extraordinary 11.5” wide by 25.5” high, was crafted in the 19th century and richly ornamented in the Rococo style. Cast in gilt, it features scrolling acanthus leaves, floral motifs, and a central cartouche crowned with cherubic detail. Its grandeur makes it a striking display piece for treasured works of art, mirrors, or books.
Unlike smaller table easels, this monumental scale was designed to command attention, often used in salons, libraries, or drawing rooms to elevate important objects. The gilded finish has acquired a soft luster over time, enhancing its baroque drama while maintaining the warmth and richness of the original gold tone.
A true statement piece, this easel not only serves a practical purpose but also becomes a sculptural accent—an artwork in its own right.
