Miniature Brass 19th C. Ribbon & Bow Frame with Antique Fabric Backing

A wonderfully charming miniature frame, this circular brass piece features a decorative ribbon-and-bow crest above a finely patterned surround. The warm metal finish and delicate detailing give it a jewel-like quality, making it a beautiful addition to a thoughtfully collected interior.

Its ribbon ornament recalls the classical decorative vocabulary associated with Louis XVI taste, in which bows, garlands, and carefully ordered borders brought softness to otherwise restrained forms. Here, the flowing crest contrasts beautifully with the circular opening, adding a sense of movement without overwhelming the frame’s petite proportions.

Small frames offer an intimate way to incorporate meaningful details into a home. Displayed among larger artwork, they introduce variation in scale; placed on a desk or bedside table, they invite a closer, more personal encounter.

This example is backed with antique fabric, adding a further layer of texture and character to its presentation. The textile complements the frame’s warm finish and reinforces its appeal as a small decorative treasure.

Perfect for a suitably sized photograph, miniature artwork, or sentimental fragment, this lovely frame brings a graceful finishing touch to a vanity, bookshelf, or collection of European decorative objects.
