La Résurrection — Framed Color Engraving

Christ rises above the tomb in a sweep of scarlet drapery, his figure illuminated against a break in the clouds. Below, guards recoil and fall across the foreground. Touches of blue and red pick out their clothing and armor, bringing color to the fine engraved lines.

A small label on the lower frame reads La Résurrection, French for The Resurrection. Set deep within its warm gilt-toned frame, the engraving has the intimate scale of a devotional piece and the drama of a much larger composition.
