French Vendee Double Heart Brass Dish

A charming piece of French regional heritage, this beautiful brass dish features the iconic double-heart emblem of the Vendée, a historic region in western France. Rich in symbolism and cultural significance, this lovely decorative object combines the warmth of aged brass with a meaningful design deeply rooted in French history.

The double-heart motif, known as the Sacré-Cœur Vendéen, is one of the most recognizable symbols associated with the Vendée. Its origins are closely connected to the French Revolution and the War in the Vendée of 1793, when the region became the center of a significant royalist and Catholic uprising. The intertwined hearts, traditionally surmounted by a cross and crown, came to represent faith, devotion, and regional identity. The emblem has endured for generations, remaining an important symbol of Vendéan heritage.

Throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, this distinctive motif appeared on a variety of decorative and commemorative objects, from jewelry and religious medals to household accessories and regional souvenirs. Crafted in brass, pieces such as this celebrate the tradition of incorporating meaningful historical imagery into everyday objects.

This lovely dish offers a wonderful combination of beauty and function, with its warm brass finish and symbolic double-heart design lending character to any collected interior. Perfect for holding jewelry, small keepsakes, or other treasured necessities, it would be equally charming displayed atop a stack of antique books or incorporated into a collection of French curiosities.

A sweet and meaningful treasure that carries a fascinating piece of French regional history into the home.
