This exquisite dual-sided pedestal desk, crafted in the 1870s, captures the timeless sophistication of French Empire design. Its rectangular, sanded top—once adorned with leather—now reveals the natural beauty of the raw wood beneath. Supported by elegantly turned trestle legs with gilded bronze accents and a sturdy stretcher, the desk showcases both form and function.

Adding to its functionality are pull-out flanks on either side, each topped with green loose leather, providing extra workspace when needed while enhancing the desk’s luxurious appeal.

The central drawer, with its foliate gilt metal escutcheon, is flanked by two sets of drawers, each displaying similarly intricate details. With five pull-out drawers and one sliding shelf, this piece offers ample storage. Remarkably, the original keys are preserved, adding to its historical charm, though the bottom left and top middle drawers are missing their keyways and do not lock. The remaining drawers, however, retain their locking function.

The back of the desk mirrors the design on the front, making it as striking from the rear as it is from the front—ideal for placement in the center of a room where every angle can be admired.

Ornate brass embellishments, including a circular leaf wreath, surround the desk, enhancing its opulence. The matching chair, upholstered in leather with a few age-acquired stains, complements the old-world charm of this set. Despite the signs of time, this desk remains a functional and stunning centerpiece, perfectly suited to a refined home or office. Its enduring style ensures it will be cherished for generations to come.
