Details & History:

An exceptional French coat rack showcasing the grandeur of 19th century design. The spiraled barley twist mahogany column rises to an elaborate gilt-bronze crown with scrolling acanthus hooks for coats and hats, each cast with refined Rococo-style detail.

The midsection is adorned with a finely chased gilt-bronze mount, while the base rests on three sweeping legs terminating in gilt-bronze paw feet, each leg further decorated with female busts — a neoclassical motif symbolizing refinement and grace. These flourishes not only served as decoration but as statements of craftsmanship, demonstrating the opulence of the French decorative arts tradition.

Hall trees of this caliber were fixtures in well-appointed 19th century foyers and salons, where they provided both utility and an immediate impression of status upon entering the home.

Condition:

Excellent antique condition with light surface wear to wood and bronze consistent with age. Structural integrity remains strong and stable.
