19th-Century French Gilt Bronze Triple Frame with Ribbon & Floral Garlands

Sale price$435.00

Era & Origin:

Circa 1880–1890 | France

Materials:

Gilt bronze (ormolu) with glass and original paper backing

Details & History:

An exquisite French ormolu triple photo frame, crafted in the late 19th century with all the refinement characteristic of the Belle Époque. Fashioned from finely cast gilt bronze, this frame features three circular windows suspended beneath an ornate ribbon and floral garland crest, a motif inspired by Louis XVI design and beloved in Parisian decorative arts of the period.

The trio of frames, elegantly joined by swags of leaves and rosettes, once would have displayed miniature portraits or cherished cartes de visite — a sentimental keepsake of family and friendship in the 1800s. Each bezel retains its original glass and backing, lending it that touch of authenticity and romance found only in true antiques.

This piece embodies the artistry of French bronze casting — where even the smallest decorative object was made with architectural precision and ornamental grace. A timeless celebration of memory, luxury, and craft.

Condition Notes:

Excellent antique condition with light patina to gilt surface. Glass is intact and bezels secure. Original aged backing preserved.

Styling Notes:

Display on a dressing table, writing desk, or wall gallery. Perfect for inserting old family photos, love letters, or small sketches for a personal and storied vignette.
