17th Century French Tapestry Mounted Stool with Barley Twist Legs
A charming relic of early French craftsmanship, this 17th-century stool is a rare surviving example of original tapestry upholstery. Resting atop beautifully turned barley twist legs in ebonized wood, the piece exudes character and patina from centuries of use. The tapestry features soft, timeworn tones of green, blue, and cream—its age-worn threads revealing a subtle story with every fray.
Though the fabric shows signs of wear consistent with its age, the frame remains sturdy and sound, adding to its historic charm. Perfect as an accent at the foot of a bed, beside a hearth, or simply as a standalone conversation piece that whispers of another era.
