A refined 19th-century French Empire secrétaire à abattant, crafted in richly grained mahogany and newly professionally refinished to revive its warmth and depth while preserving its classical character. The architectural façade is framed by bold columnar supports with gilt capitals, grounding the piece in the restrained grandeur of the Empire period.

The fall-front opens to reveal a thoughtfully organized interior fitted with shelving and an arrangement of small drawers, centered around a leather-lined writing surface in deep green. Only the uppermost drawer is a faux façade, designed to allow clearance for the fall-front mechanism; the remaining drawers are fully functional, offering generous storage below. Hand-cut dovetail joinery throughout reflects traditional craftsmanship, while the original gilt-bronze mounts—including rosettes, escutcheons, and figural detailing—add sculptural interest and balance.
