French Digoin Sarreguemines Dijon Grey-Poupon Mustard Pot | Paris 1900

A wonderfully graphic piece of French advertising ware, this ceramic mustard pot was produced by Digoin Sarreguemines for the celebrated French mustard house Dijon Grey-Poupon. The front bears the historic Grey-Poupon crest and proudly references the maison’s founding in 1777, while the upper inscription commemorates Paris 1900 and its recognition as Hors Concours, Membre du Jury.

Finished in a warm ivory glaze with black transfer decoration, the vessel has developed an especially beautiful allover crazed surface, giving it the character and texture we love in antique French ceramics. The underside retains the Digoin Sarreguemines maker’s mark.

Originally created as a utilitarian mustard pot, today it makes a charming decorative vessel, perfect for holding flowers, kitchen utensils, or simply styled among collected French pottery.

Condition Notes:
Antique condition consistent with age and use. Extensive crazing is present throughout the glaze, along with age-related discoloration, staining, surface wear, and patination, particularly around the rim and base. These characteristics contribute beautifully to its timeworn appearance.
