1832 Xavier de Maistre Collected Works with Marbled Cover

A beautifully aged volume of French literature, this 1832 edition of Xavier de Maistre’s Œuvres complètes pairs richly patterned cover with delicate gilt decoration. Amber-colored veining moves across the dark brown binding, while a contrasting black spine label bears the author’s name in gold.

Published in Brussels by J.-P. Méline, this volume dates to the author’s lifetime. Xavier de Maistre is best remembered for Voyage autour de ma chambre, or A Journey Around My Room, an imaginative work that finds discovery, reflection, and humor within the familiar surroundings of a single room.
