Marché Paul Bert is a standout area for high-end antiques, while Marché Vernaison offers a more eclectic mix of goods. Be prepared to spend hours wandering through its many alleys, as you never know what hidden gem you might stumble upon.

Insider Tip: Saint-Ouen is open from Saturday to Monday, but it’s best to visit early in the day to avoid crowds and have first pick of the best items.

2. Le Village Saint-Paul

Tucked away in the heart of the Marais district, Le Village Saint-Paul is a charming and quiet enclave of antique shops and galleries. The area is also known for its unique, bohemian atmosphere, making it a peaceful spot to explore and browse for treasures.

Insider Tip: We have learned the best time to visit is during the Carré Rive Gauche annual art and antique fair, usually held in June, when the galleries host special exhibitions and showcase their finest pieces.

4. Marché aux Puces de Vanves

If you’re looking for a more relaxed, less touristy market, Marché aux Puces de Vanves, located in the 14th arrondissement, offers a laid-back atmosphere while still delivering plenty of antique treasures. This market is smaller and more manageable than Saint-Ouen, but it’s packed with vintage finds, from retro lighting and antique clocks to old postcards and vintage jewelry. The friendly vibe and affordable prices make Vanves a great option for those looking to pick up unique pieces without breaking the bank.

Why it’s worth visiting: Puces de Vanves is ideal for casual collectors and those who enjoy the thrill of discovering hidden gems. It’s also open every weekend, making it a perfect way to spend a leisurely Saturday or Sunday morning in Paris.

5. Louvre des Antiquaires

Located near the Louvre Museum, the Louvre des Antiquaires is an upscale shopping destination that attracts antique connoisseurs and collectors from around the world. This elegant gallery-style complex is home to over 250 dealers, specializing in everything from Renaissance art to antique jewelry, rare books, and fine furniture. The setting is refined, and the selection is carefully curated, offering only the highest quality pieces.

While the prices at the Louvre des Antiquaires are on the higher end, the experience of browsing through centuries of art and craftsmanship in such a prestigious location makes it worth a visit. It’s the perfect place to find a truly special piece of history to take home.

While the selection of antiques at Passage des Panoramas is smaller compared to other destinations on this list, the experience of wandering through its atmospheric, historic passageways makes it a worthwhile stop.

Tips for Shopping Antiques in Paris

• Arrive Early: Whether you're visiting a flea market or an auction house, arriving early gives you the best chance of finding unique items before the crowds arrive.
• Bargain with Care: Haggling is common in Paris flea markets, but be respectful and know when to push for a better price. Vendors are more likely to negotiate if you’re polite, kind and willing to bundle. 
• Bring Cash: While many places accept credit cards, cash is often preferred, especially at outdoor markets like Vanves or Saint-Ouen. We were stuck at Vanves after hitting our ATM limits and were unable to use our cards. The items we had to leave behind are still haunting me.
• Ask for Provenance: Especially when buying high-value items, don't hesitate to ask about the history or authenticity of a piece. Reputable dealers will provide you with documentation, dates, origins and stories! This was one of my favorite questions to ask! We also suggest brining a notebook to write down all of the valuable information you learn about your items, ESPECIALLY if you are a dealer!
• Make an effort to speak French: A friendly smile and a simple "Bonjour" can go a long way. It’s helpful to brush up on basic French phrases before heading to the markets. Simple questions like "Is this yours?" or "How much?" can help you start conversations smoothly. The French will appreciate the effort, even if it’s just a few words.
